Happy Birthday!

Chris Moore

Posted on December 29th, 2012

I learned years ago that, as a holiday baby born right between Christmas and New Years, you cannot expect much excitement on your birthday. It’s just a natural phenomenon. I know, I know, my life must be filled with woe and sorrow…Not exactly. I see it this way. Everyone around me just spent the better part of a week ensnared in often unpleasant family and social gatherings, with little recourse other than self-medication via piles of pecan pie and a few boxes of cheap wine. They understandably need a break before the cycle repeats itself on New Years, only now with the added discomfort of having dressing up like proud peacocks so that the other miserable party attendees will be suitably impressed. I found…

Time for resolutions already?

Yes, it’s that time of year again. We are all obliged to go through the exercise, even if there is no intention of actually seeing things through. I am, of course, talking about New Years resolutions. I know, the same old charade plays out every year. We get sick and bloated from holiday food excess. We are pushed to the threshold of murderous behavior by the lingering presence of extended family. And if you’re like me, a little too much rest and relaxation starts to make your blood pressure rise. This is well enough to make you want to do something, anything to change your life. We need a big mix of challenges, disappointments and accomplishments. We need to be able to look at ourselves in the mirror and be happy with what we’ve done, who we are, and where we’re going. I think you’ll agree with me on that point,…

Simply having a wonderful Christmas time

Chris Moore

Posted on December 25th, 2012

Ok, so we did a pseudo-Christmas show. Not really in terms of content, unless Santa brought you a bunch of Steroids last night. But I promise this week’s intro alone is all you need to put you in the spirit.

We are planning to take the show up to the next level this year, perhaps starting with our Anniversary show. Stay tuned for an awesome 2013.

Merry Christmas to all!

Books, butterscotch and the barbell

Note: Dear reader, here’s your annual, rambling Holiday post. Enjoy! From this view I can see quite a few books. Some are gigantic tomes. Others are really nothing more than pamphlets or long articles stapled within fancy covers designed to tug the reader into an impulse purchase, which is fine in it’s own right. Regardless of page count, each work adds to the collective scholarly vibe, which is bigger than the sum of the words alone. Just in case you didn’t realize it, vibe alone will take you a long way in this world. That said, only about a fourth of these books are worthy of a cover to cover read. It’s not a question of whether the others are bad. That’s actually pretty…
